South Beaverton Girls Little League is a community driven program that strives to teach
responsibility, hard work, and sportsmanship in all of players and volunteers. As a league, we
also want to recognize those in our South Beaverton community that may or may not be a
participant in our organization but strive to better our community and act in the same
efforts that we try to instill in our players.
In 2018, SBGLL lost one of those community volunteers that encouraged the love for the
diamond. Ashley LaBore's "love for softball and kids resulted in her pursuing being a softball
coach. She always referred to her team as 'Her Girls.' She was a beacon of laughter and
colorful socks." (from Ashley LaBore Memorial USA Softball Tournament).
In 2019, the SBGLL board unanimously voted to name the Hometown Hero Award in Ashley
LaBore's honor.
Guidelines:
• Nominees can be anyone in the community, coach, teacher, police officer, bus
driver, etc., that are involved with bettering the community of Beaverton.
• Nominees DO NOT need to be affiliated with SBGLL.
• Describe in a brief explanation why your nominee should be recognized by the
SBGLL Board for the Home Town Hero Award.
